Klarna is an online payment platform designed to facilitate cashless payments through installments. The company's platform offers in-store, mobile, and online payments as well as deliveries and returns services and works on a buy now, pay later model, thereby enabling shoppers to finance their retail purchases and make paying simple, safe and smooth. It aims at building a sustainable global digital economy by creating benefits for consumers and retailers alike.
Through its platform, clients can search and shop, discover new products, create and save collections, receive price drop notifications, have tailored daily deals, pay, have overviews and management of spendings, have a CO2 tracking and have access to post purchase tools.
In March 2021, Klarna raised 1billion USD. The 4x oversubscribed round included a combination of new and existing investors and closed at a post-money valuation of $31 billion USD, making Klarna the highest-valued private fintech in Europe and the second highest worldwide behind Stripe.
Following this round, Klarna was also proud to announce the company will pledge 1% of the capital raised to a newly created initiative that focuses on key sustainability challenges around the world. The initiative will be formally launched April 22 on World Earth Day.
