pawaPay originated as the payments part of pawaTech, a UK software company with more than a decade of experience building Mobile Money solutions for African markets. In early 2020, pawaPay was spun out as a standalone business with backing of the investors behind pawaTech.
pawaPay has abstracted the complexity of Mobile Money payments for 10 countries and 25 Mobile Network Operators by handling the regulatory setup and compliance, bank accounts, MNO contracts, technically integration and ongoing maintenance into one simple API and one commercial contract.
Today, pawaPay is already a Mobile Money payments leader on the continent, processing more than 100 million Mobile Money transactions per year across 10+ countries. pawaPay helps businesses collect payments from and terminate disbursements to 250mn Mobile Money wallets in 10 countries using one simple API.
